Life Skills Trainer

Title:                     Life Skills Trainer/Job Coach

Reports to:         Wolens Program Manager

 

This position works with the Wolens Program Services team to support individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve independent living goals that are personally rewarding and/or gain meaningful employment in the community.  This position assists these individuals to attain a higher level of independence through habilitation training in their home or in the community.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in human services field, three years experience serving individuals with intellectual disabilities in a teaching or training capacity. Experience in assessing individuals and preparing training goals.  Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. DARS certification a plus. Must successfully obtain and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and SAMA. Have a valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Part-Time Direct Care Professional

This Direct Care Position is Responsible for (but not limited to):

  •  The operation, coordination, instruction and supervision of clients/residents in residential support homes or day services
  •  Ensure the protection of the individuals’ rights
  •  Assist individual clients/residents in acquiring and maintaining the self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in a home or a community-based setting
  • Promote a safe and healthy living environment
  • Increase the capabilities of the individual within the policies and procedures of the organization
PRN Direct Care Professional

This Direct Care Position is Responsible for (but not limited to):

  •  The operation, coordination, instruction and supervision of clients/residents in residential support homes or day services

Wolens Program Manager

The Wolens Program Manager supervises the employees of the Wolens Program and any contract consulting staff for that program.  The Manager is responsible for vocational, educational, and recreational activities provided to adults with intellectual disabilities served through the Wolens Program through CHAI group homes and community supports from the HCS/TXHML Program, Dallas Metrocare and private referrals.

 

REPORTS TO:      Director of Programs and Services

 

SUPERVISES:      Life Skills Trainers, Job Coaches, and Supported Employment Specialist 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:  At least two years’ experience in a human service field and one year supervisory experience. DARS Certification is preferred. Working with adults with intellectual disabilities is a plus.
