My adult disabled child moved from a nursing facility back home and now Medicaid won’t pay for their doctor visits. Why and can it be fixed?

There was likely a designation put on your child’s Medicaid indicating they were a resident of the facility for more than 30 days. This prevents payment for any medical services provided outside of that facility. If your child gets Medicaid through SSI, you correct this by contacting SSA and reporting that your child has moved out of the nursing facility and is now living in the community. Give them their home address and the date they moved out of the nursing facility. If your child gets Medicaid through HHSC, please contact your LIDDA Service Coordinator and a LIDDA Benefits Specialist will take care of this on your behalf.
